In figures provided to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, Iowa’s licensed casinos and sports wagering operators generated more than $27 million in state tax revenue in June to close the state’s 2026 fiscal year at a total of $331.3 million.
June 2026 casino revenue was up by 1.2% over the totals from June 2025 for a total of $138.6 million, with a half-dozen operators posting double-digit percentage increases year over year. Gaming taxes collected by the state increased 0.34% over June 2025, totaling $26.04 million in state gaming taxes for the month. Total casino revenue for the 2026 fiscal year reached $1.70 billion, representing a 1.3% increase over fiscal year 2025. Total casino tax revenue for FY2026 was down 0.76% at $312.08 million. The decrease in tax revenue is related to the gradual phase out of taxation on promotional play enacted with SF619 in 2021.
Sports wagering operational revenue for June 2026 was $16.4 million, reflecting a 14.6% decrease year over year. However, total revenue for the full fiscal year reached $284.45 million, an increase of 18.46% over FY2025. The state’s fiscal year tax total for sports wagering was $19.19 million, up 18.33% compared with the previous year. The amount Iowans wagered on sports also rose from $2.86 billion to $2.87 billion in FY2026.
“Fiscal Year 2026 marked a strong period for Iowa’s gaming landscape, driven by steady performance by licensed casinos and significant year-over-year growth in sports wagering.” said IRGC Administrator Tina Eick. "The Commission remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that gaming in Iowa is conducted as a safe, transparent, and enjoyable form of entertainment.
