In figures provided to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, Iowa’s licensed casinos and sports wagering operators generated more than $30 million in state tax revenue for May 2026.

“Going into the last month of the fiscal year, the Iowa casino industry as a whole remains on track for small gains in revenue for the fiscal year that ends June 30,” said Administrator Tina Eick.  “Revenue for the state’s sportsbooks is also on track for significant gains.” 

At $152.1 million, May 2026 casino revenue increased by nearly 1.8% over totals reported from May 2025, with several operators posting double-digit increases. Additionally, monthly sports wagering revenue increased by 3.62% year over year, with $20.8 million reported.

Casino Revenue and Taxes

Iowa casinos reported an increase in revenue of 1.78% compared with May 2025. Gaming taxes collected by the state increased 0.24% from May 2025:

  • $152.15 million – Adjusted Gross Revenue
  • $28.64 million – State Gaming Taxes

Sports Wagering Revenue and Taxes

Sports wagering operations in the state reported an increase in revenue of 3.62% from May 2025. State taxes on sports wagering increased by 3.37% compared with May 2025:

  • $20.8 million – Sports Wagering Revenue
  • $1.40 million – State Sports Wagering Taxes

Additional Information

As of May 2026, a total of 19 state-licensed casinos are operating in Iowa. Currently, 11 state-licensed entities offer online sports betting in the state. Details for each casino and sports betting operator’s revenue statistics are available on the IRGC website.
